Art and Prison e.V. is an initiative by artists and art enthusiasts from presently 42 countries:

Since its inception, "Art and Prison e.V." has been a “not for profit” organization.

ENGLISH What does "Art and Prison" hope to achieve? The association "Art and Prison" originated from an initiative by well-known artists, who supported an exhibition im Rome entitled "Art from Prison” in 2007. The association was officially registered in 2009 in Berlin, the city in which a wall had separated people for decades. Prison walls also separate people but we are convinced that in this situation art can build a bridge of understanding. Members and supporters of the association "Art and Prison" are artists, art lovers, galleries, private sponsors and institutions from presently more than 40 countries and all continents. The association is not aligned with any political party and is not bound to any specific denomination or ideology. This association's charitable, non-profit status is recognized by the German government and donations are therefore tax-deductible. The association desires to make clear that beyond and across national borders, art can make a valuable contribution to humanity and to greater respect for human dignity; a service to the victims of criminality and crime. This is about a new way of integrating people living on the fringe of society, who have no lobby and whose fate often tears families apart. As its central social pilot project, the association supports the building of a rehabilitation center for women who have been repeatedly incarcerated. - Raise awareness of what life is like behind bars - Show that "quality art" can be created also, and sometimes especially, in prison - Motivate artists worldwide to contribute creatively and concretely through their artistic work to improve the humanitarian situation in prisons - Invite art lovers and sponsors worldwide to support this initiative - Hold international exhibitions and competitions, support publications - Presentation of paintings and sculptures by "free" and imprisoned artists - Support social projects - Be a forum for dialogue and the societal integration of fringe groups

Español La Asociación „Art and Prison e.V.“ tiene sus orígenes en una iniciativa de notables artistas, quienes en el año 2007 en Roma apoyaron una exposición con el tema "Arte desde la prisión". Oficialmente la asociación se constituye en el año 2009 en Berlín - una ciudad en la cual por décadas un muro dividió a sus habitantes. Los muros de las prisiones también dividen a las personas. Estamos convencidos que el arte en estas situaciones puede tender un puente de comunicación. „Art and Prison e.V.“ esta conformada por artistas, amigos del arte, galerías, patrocinadores privados e instituciones provenientes de mas de 40 países de todos los continentes. Somos independientes de cualquier partido político, ideología o religión La asociación tiene el estatuto legal de una organización sin fines de lucro; por lo tanto todas las donaciones y contribuciones están libres de impuesto. Queremos difundir a través de las fronteras que el arte es una importante contribución hacia procesos mas humanos en las prisiones y a la resocialización de las personas que han estado en prisión. Esto significa también un servicio simultaneo para con las victimas del crimen y la delincuencia. Se trata de construir un camino hacia la integración de personas quienes están en la periferia de la sociedad, personas quienes no tienen acceso a Lobbies y por cuyos destinos las familias son muchas veces desintegradas.

 

Italiano L'associazione "Art and Prison e.V." ha origine da un'iniziativa di un gruppo di artisti famosi che nel 2007 hanno supportato l'associazione con una esposizione intitolata "Art from Prison". L'associazioe è stata ufficialmente registrata nel 2009 a Berlino, la città nella quale IL MURO ha separato le persone per decenni. Anche le mura delle prigioni separano le persone, e noi siamo convinti che in questa situazione l'arte diventa e costruisce un ponte per la comprensione. Membri e sostenitori dell'associazione "Art and Prison e.V." sono artisti, amanti dell'arte, galleristi , sponsor privati, e istituzioni provenienti attualmente da 30 paesi differenti, di tutti i continenti. L'associazione non è schierata con nessun partito politico, non è legata a nessuna specifica denominazione o ideologia; è per beneficenza e non è a scopo di lucro e, in quanto tale, è riconosciuta dal governo tedesco, di conseguenza le donazioni sono deducibili dalle tasse. Desideriamo mettere in risalto che l'arte puo' dare un importante contributo per una maggiore solidarietà e rispetto nei confronti della dignità umana al di là di ogni frontiera. Siamo inoltre convinti che tutto ciò è anche al servizio delle vittime della criminalità. Rappresenta una nuova strada per l'integrazione di queste persone che vivono ai margini della società, senza protezione alcuna e spesso senza conforto familiare. Come principale progetto pilota l'associazione ha come scopo la costruzione di un Centro di Riabilitazione per le donne che sono state più volte imprigionate.

 

Ukrainian „Art and Prison“ – міжнародна ініціатива діячів та шанувальників мистецтва Цілі „Art and Prison“ - Привернути увагу до життя за гратами - Показати, що "хороше мистецтво" може створюватися і в тюрмі, а часом – тільки в ній - Спонукати митців всього світу внести своєю творчістю вклад у вдосконалення ситуації щодо прав людини в сфері системи виконання покарань - Залучати поціновувачів мистецтва і спонсорів по всьому світу в підтримку цього проекту - Проводити міжнародні виставки та конкурси, здійснювати видавничу діяльність - Здійснювати презентації та продаж картин і скульптур "вільних" митців і митців, які "відбувають покарання у виправних колоніях" - Підтримувати соціальні проекти на кошти, отримані від продажу – на сьогоднішній день це надання гуманітарної допомоги ув'язненим - Слугувати форумом для організації діалогу з маргінальними групами і сприяти їхній інтеграції в суспільстві (Translation: Виктория Семенова)
